Design Intention

Through analyzing the composition of animals characteristics, we have iterated and designed pavilion.

Designing space, object, and any form of structure starts with studying living things or natural objects. We must gain inspiration from an existing form. Studying living animals or natural objects gives us the ability to capture their natural formation and organization or their characteristics. We translate and reconstruct the essence of each animal's characteristics into architectural form.

By studying animals and objects I was able to transform their proposition into an architectural sense. A mixture of wood, wire, and museum board allowed pavilion designs to become transparent in their function, division of space, and creation of open and enclosed space.

These models are iterated constantly to produce improvements in constructing space within or outside of pavilions to form boundaries and systems of their own to allow its perspective on its original design.

Which is of course, from nature.

Pavilion Iteration No. 2

The structure is formed with consistent space while sharing common fragments that relay onto one another. Inspiration from the shrimp scale is elaborated and translated into architectural design. The formation of the shrimp scale is generated to become the pavilion's walls, floor, and ceiling while allowing natural lights to access the entire structure.

The outskirts of the pavilion will be filled with trees and bushes to enable control of the amount of sunlight and wind. Due to the slight slanting angle of about 3 degrees, the landscape will adapt itself to the pavilion by cascading to create outdoor space, pathways, and a garden to provide a resting area.
